Profile

At the age of 10 I knew what I wanted from life: to be a professional french horn player. For the ensuing 20 years I did exactly what the 10-year-old had planned. A BM in Music from the University of Michigan and an MM in Music from Indiana University got me all trained, well enough at least to get a toe-hold in the freelance scene in Germany and Central Europe.

I focused a lot on period music, specializing in classical and baroque horn playing (those are the ones without any valves). I was involved in a couple of CD recording projects, went on a couple of world tours, and played most of the big orchestral pieces that I had always dreamed of playing. I even got an orchestra job that I might still be doing today if I hadn't decided to move on.

But move on I did, and for the past 8 years I've been a computer programmer and Drupal specialist. Oh what a different life that is! There are no regrets of my decision - I've been able to explore and develop aspects of myself that would have never been available at the back of the orchestra - but music still means the world to me.

This site is my connection to the world of music. Here I can talk about the things I did, the music I love, the people I know, and the cool new things that are happening around us. I hope you enjoy it!
